Welcome To My Home And Gardens!

I invite you to take a stroll through my front yard garden.  It is hard to believe that when we purchased this house ten years ago there was only a few old Junipers, some Yews, trees and grass.  Over time I have slowly expanded my gardens and now I have very little grass left.  I try to use repetition to provide unity-I feel it helps keep my gardens from looking to "busy".  These plants I repeat are Calamagrostis acutiflora "Karl Foerester",  Dark leaved Heuchera,  and Dark leaved Physocarpus (shrubs) along with a few others.  I also rely heavily on leaf color instead of flowers.  This helps to keep my garden interesting at all times of the year-even winter:-))  You might also notice I prefer curves to straight lines and I use trenches for edging except for the areas where my stairs are at.  This pic is taken from across the street from my house:

Thanks for taking a stroll with me through my front gardens!  I hope you enjoy them-I know I sure do!  Next time we will visit the backyard and the side yards.

If you have any questions feel free email me or leave a comment!

Happy Planting!

  1. looks great. Can't wait to get back out in mine. Come on spring.

    1. Thanks! I can't wait either-winter seems so long up here:-))

  2. Really pretty. And so colorful. Love those steps. I have a great love for stone in any garden!

    1. Thank you! I love stone and rock too! I put in those steps because my yard was so sloped I got sick of slipping down the hill when it was wet!
